  1. What is embryo adoption? Do they just put one in? Coz that’s always been my issue with ivf – all the other babies that don’t implant die, and it makes me sad… maybe I over think stuff….

I haven’t read mended, will order it 🙂

    • Yeah, we were very cautious when we were looking into IVF a year ago. The embryos that don’t implant wouldn’t have implanted naturally anyway, so it’s the same as if you were trying naturally. Doing IVF doesn’t give the embryos less of a chance of implanting or progressing. Anyway, the thing we were not ok with when we first looked into it was discarding the “extra” embryos that we made but didn’t need, or in our case, the kell positive embryos. A lot of couples make several embryos but only use some of them. The rest of them are frozen or discarded. A lot of Christians (including myself) think that life begins at conception, so they don’t want to throw away their extra embryos. Embryo adoption is when you adopt the other family’s extra embryos so the babies have a chance at life.

  2. There are options for adopted mothers to breast feed?!! That is so exciting! We aren’t to that point yet, but one of the big downsides to adoption in my mind is not being able to do that. I’ll check out your link, thank you!

    • Yes! It made me so excited because one of the things I’ve missed the most with Lucy is breastfeeding. Also, it’s supposed to be easier to induce lactation if you’ve breastfed before or had a baby before. Didn’t you pump and donate your milk after you lost Asher? There’s a Facebook group just for adoptive breastfeeding and they say that it is very healing for the mother and the baby.
